Oaktamatone , who regularly posts videos of the orchestral and violin repertoire on the otamatone, has released an excerpt of themselves playing the otamatone in the third movement of the Sibelius Violin Concerto with piano accompaniment. A whimsical electronic musical synthesizer shaped like an eighth note with a face, the otamatone was invented in Japan in 2009 by Maywa Denki and the Cube Works toy company. The otamatone is played by pressing a finger along a touch-sensitive stem to change pitch while squeezing the silicone head to open the mouth for the sound effect.
