Violinist Nigel Kennedy has listed his viola for auction through Amati. The instrument is accompanied by a humorous note from Kennedy. "Dear Musical Comrade," writes Kennedy in the note, "On a recent countryside walk, stepping in a cow pat reminded me how much I am going to miss my viola." Kennedy goes on to characterize the instrument's "pleasing innate qualities" as "brutal grunting attack, perfect intonation between the twelve semitones normally afforded to Europeans, and an infallible two-second vibrato cycle." He also writes that the viola "has the capacity to ruin any and all chamber music sessions." The viola measures 410 millimeters in length and is expected to sell for an amount between the £3,000 starting bid and £5,000. Bids will be accepted until October 28th. T
