Helena Guardans has been appointed the new president of the Fundació del Gran Teatre del Liceu. The appointment received the support of the public administrations that are part of the Fundació —the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Ministry of Culture, Barcelona City Council and Barcelona Provincial Council— as well as the other members of the Board of Trustees. Salvador Illa, President of the Generalitat, announced the appointment, succeeding Salvador Alemany Mas after ten years at the helm of the Fundació. With this appointment, Guardans will be the first woman to serve as president of the Fundació. Guardans will begin this new chapter with the aim of preserving everything that has enabled the institution to grow and ensuring the stability needed to meet the challenges of the future.
