A musician who cancelled a Christmas show in protest at the Trump renaming of the Kennedy Center has fought off a $1 million lawsuit by the Center’s former Trumpist chief. The case was dismissed under Anti-SLAPP laws, which block meritless lawsuits intended to silence opposing points of view on matters of public interest. Richard Grenell (pic), the Kennedy Center’s president at the time, issued proceeding against Chuck Redd, whose concert is an annual Christmas attraction. Grenell said: ‘Your decision to withdraw at the last moment – explicitly in response to the Center’s recent renaming, which honors President Trump’s extraordinary efforts to save this national treasure – is classic intolerance and very costly to a non-profit Arts institution.’ DC superior court
